Region New Taipei
Capital New Taipei City
The New Taipei City area combines the modern conveniences of fast-paced urban living with an abundance of nature. The city is surrounded by numerous mountains and several major rivers: the Tamsui, Keelung, Dahan and Xindian rivers. Starting the journey from downtown, visitors can easily take a day trip to enjoy scenic riverbanks full of ripe green vegetation, or visit tranquil hillside towns. Cycling is another great healthy way to appreciate the views while leaving a low-carbon footprint. New Taipei City is exceptionally cyclist-friendly. The city has numerous bike rental stations and an extensive network of scenic bikeways. Riverside bikeways pass through urban areas along riverbanks with cityscape views. The North Coast cycling route brings one up close to the sea, with the mountains on one side and the beauty of the Pacific Ocean on the other. There are also several mountain routes for a more challenging ride. These routes lead to tea growing areas, old mining towns and other scenic getaways.
